Kangra is one of the most picturesque valley of lower Himalayas is the most populous district of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 18 km from Dharamshala. It is one of the prettiest valleys of Himachal Pradesh with Beas is one of the largest rivers of this district that contributes to the fertility of the land. The area around Kangra is known for its ancient temples, picturesque surroundings rich cultural heritage. There are several tea gardens dedicated to the production of both green and black tea. Kangra Valley is an ideal place for adventure and sports activities where the visitors can indulge in mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing and fishing. The valley annually witnesses the hang-gliding rally. Pilgrims flock to Kangra in the month of April for the Navratra celebrations, and in September-October for celebrating Dusshera festival to pay their homage to Goddess Durga at the Vajreshwari (Kangra Devi) temple. The other major attractions of Kangra district include Brajeshwari, Baijnath, Jawalamukhi and Chamunda Devi dot the countryside.
